Stef's adventures in craftiness

Look! I made bread!

I baked my first proper loaf of bread today. Levy Rye bread from The Bread Bible. This book goes into ALL the detail of bread making, rather scientific and some neat step by step illustrations. At first it is a little overwhelming, but once you’ve read all the details, it’s a lot simpler than it looks. And the bread was GOOD. A few improvements to be made, but not bad for a first try.

    • Thankyou 🙂 Much cheaper than the pro bread too. It’s around $6 (sometimes more) for a loaf similar to this. I’m pretty sure my ingredients cost much less than that.

      Thanks 🙂
The author has done her research, with lots of tips/instructions you don’t get it non-specialised books. Number one, like with pizza, would be starting with a really hot oven and stone. Also ice cubes on a tray underneath to make some steam!
