Golden lights and some ‘Beethoven’

We attended our first MSO concert in the newly renovated Hamer Hall tonight. The foyer ceiling was one of my favourite touches.

From August

The repertoire was one of my fond favourites, the Grieg Piano Concerto. For an encore, the pianist (Piers Lane) played Dudley Moore’s Beethoven Sonata Parody. A good belly laugh for those familiar with their Beethoven. By memory Piers might have put a few extra comedic embellishments of his own on Dudley’s original below:
